NabComment - Comments on The Nabaztag, the Drupal Module
I knew it, he did it.
And so did I.
What am I talking about?
Simply said, Fullo, after winning a Nabaztag at the Treasure Hunt saturday, built a WordPress Plugin to receive blog comments as messages on the little white rabbit.
Envy can be cruel sometimes.
After reading his post, I started to work on a similar thing for Drupal, and it seems it works.
Here I am, showing you a module, Nabaztag Comment (NabComment), at its 0.1 version, tested on Drupal 5.
To install it, simply gunzip and untar it in your /modules/ directory, then enable the module from the administration panel and configure it (always from the admin panel).
It has a few parameters:
- Nabaztag API URL:
The default value should be ok, I'll update the module when necessary. - Nabaztag Nickname:
As far as I could see, this is useless, but I'm using it anyway (parameters are copied from the script I'm using for messages) - Nabaztag Serial Number:
The Serial Number and Mac Address you used to register your Rabbit on my.nabaztag.com, get it there. - Nabaztag Token:
The one you find on my.nabaztag.com, get it there. - Send Message For:
You can use the following options:- all new comments:
All comments, both published and in approval queue. - just comments needing approval
- just published comments
- none (disabled)
Just to tell you that this module is a copy of the Comment Mail, customized and adapted to work for the Rabbit, but still a copy.
Personally, I suggest you to enable messages just for published comments, to avoid too much "spam", but you can do whatever you want :)
- all new comments:
- Message text for approval messages
Insert the text you want the rabbit to read you for comments in approval queue (find the options under the textarea) - Message text for notification messages:
Insert the text you want the rabbit to read you for published comments (again, find the options under the textarea)
For those who believe that Nabaztag is just a useless toy, I'd say today we can show you something useful with two plugins, FCC_Nabaztag for WordPress and NabComment for Drupal.
And I believe this is just the beginning!
UPDATE 1:
Warning, using this plugin slows comment publishing (it's because comments need to go through Violet's servers...)
UPDATE 2:
Too long comments can be truncated
UPDATE 3:
Just as Comment Mail, the module from which NabComment inherites its functionalities it doesn't detect Akismet blocked comments as "not published" (it seems like Akismet flags them later)
